Learn How to Face Paint
Face painting takes time of practise. Begin
with a simple pattern then later try some complicated designs like using
wigs to create a new character.
Make sure you are in a comfortable position before applying face paint
same goes with your model. If your model is seating in an armchair, put
a cushion like a soft towel between the head and the back of the chair.
Don’t lean your hand on your model’s face and practise using the brush
with the tip of your little finger.

When selecting a design for your model. If it’s a very young child, do
not apply a makeup or paint in their eyelids and mouth especially if the
child is a thumb sucker.
Be sure to have your models wear an old clothes or a towel around their
shoulder because face paint can stain clothes.
If your model wears glasses, you can try putting spectacles part on the
overall design or other features of animal face. You can also put a
butterfly or bird design over the eyebrows so that it will look balance
on the top rim of the spectacle frame. Or decorate the spectacle by
applying glitters or stick some sequins on the frames.
Always remember to use the best paint to achieved best result. You can
find paints in your local craft shops and some department stores. Try to
look for a hypoallergenic brands and non-toxic paints. And
before applying the paint or makeup, do a skin test on the model’s
forehead to make sure he’s not allergic.
For brushes, use a good quality brushes like artist’s brush or special
makeup brush because it will last longer and it allows you to achieve a
smooth, even lines. Secure a brush of different sizes, from very fine
to broad. These will help you done the painting smoothly.

You can use products with
cream or moisturiser mixed in it. Or apply a layer of
moisturiser before painting if the brands you are using don’t have a
moisturiser in it.
In removing the paint you can use a cleansing cream however ordinary
cold cream is always effective. Apply a layer on the face and wait for a
few minutes then lather until the cream becomes coloured. Then wipe it
off with soft paper tissues or cotton wool pads. You can repeat the
process until the makeup or paints are totally removed. Then, finish it
by applying a baby lotion. Always remember not to rub a child’s face or
skin without applying a cream first; this will irritate a child’s
delicate skin.
You can also use these creams in removing paints and makeup in your
brushes; however some manufacturer of brushes recommends using soap and
warm water as alternative for cleansing cream.
